How to arrange a European Maritime Day?
On May 20, 2008 - the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission sealed the Joint Tripartite Declaration Establishing a "European Maritime Day". From this day, May 20 has been declared as official "European Maritime Day" to be celebrated across Europe in order to appreciate its sea and its rich treasures of common maritime heritage.
Every year, a European city will be announced to be the official venue of the "European Maritime Day". One of our partner cities, Gdansk, has been selected to be the official venue for the international conference of the "European Maritime Day" to be held on May 19 - 20, 2011. But also other European cities are encouraged to arrange such an event in order to stress Europe's potentialities with regard to various fields of the maritime industry.
